Purpose/Mission Statement

As we read in Paul’s letter to the Hebrews: “Do not neglect to show hospitality, for by that means some have entertained angels without knowing it.” (13:1-2)

Time/Talent Needs

Ministers of Hospitality are the community’s way of greeting everyone who walks through our church doors. Such ministers try to make everyone who enters our worship space feel at ease so they call fully participate in the liturgical prayer. In addition to offering welcome, Ministers of Hospitality also maintain an orderly environment, provide adequate seating, help with the collection, distribute bulletins and assist with emergencies.

Qualifications

A sense of liturgical prayer; a gift of hospitality; a warm smile; a desire to see that those who pray at Resurrection feel welcomed; an ability to stay calm in the face of emergencies; and good communication skills. Those interested in this ministry attend a 2 hour session which examines the role of hospitality in liturgy and teaches the hands-on aspects of the ministry.

Level of Commitment

Ministers of Hospitality are scheduled approximately twice a month. They minister at the weekend liturgies, holy days of obligation and special liturgies. When a conflict occurs, ministers are expected to get their own replacement.
