Purpose/Mission Statement
“Choirs are comprised of persons drawn from the community who posses the requisite musical skills and a commitment to the established schedule of rehearsals and Liturgies. Thus, they are able to enrich the celebration by adding musical elements beyond the capabilities of the congregation alone.” Sing to the Lord #28
In keeping with the mission of Resurrection Catholic Church, we the member of Resurrection Music Ministry seek to support the song of the assembly by providing thoughtfully prepared and prayerful music in order that those assembled can engage in full, conscious and active participation during worship.
Time/Talent Needs
Choir members rehearse one night a week for two hours, Thursday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. The choir sings at the 10:30am Mass as scheduled by the music director. It is highly desirable that individuals join for one entire choir year (from September through the end of May).
Qualifications
Anyone with a true desire to serve the parish as a choir member is welcome to join. You must be willing to sing in a structured group with direction. A desire to support and enhance the song of the assembly is crucial.
Level of Commitment
A one year commitment is highly desirable. At the same time, it is possible to join for part of the year such as Advent/Christmas or Lent/Easter. Such an arrangement should be discussed with the choir director.
