Reconciliation
Their families, with the help and guidance of our Elementary Faith Formation team and catechists, lead children preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Through the Sacramental Preparation process, all involved are given the opportunity to grow deeper in faith together.
Reconciliation will be available Saturdays from 3:15 to 3:45pm or by appointment. Please call the office at (630) 289-5400 for an appointment.
First Reconciliation
Guidelines put forth by our Bishops concerning baptized children, specify that the Sacrament of Reconciliation should be received prior to First Communion. At Resurrection, the preparation for these sacraments traditionally begins in the Fall of Grade 2 and requires parental involvement in meetings, workshops, and the completion of sacramental preparation materials at home. Older children who request these Sacraments are provided with age-appropriate preparation materials and participate in other formational activities as outlined by the Director.
Eucharist
Their families, with the help and guidance of our Elementary Faith Formation team and catechists, lead children preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Through the Sacramental Preparation process, all involved are given the opportunity to grow deeper in faith together.
First Communion
All First Communicants and their families are expected to:
- Participate in faith formation process for a minimum of two consecutive years
- Participate in our weekly Sunday worship
- Participate fully in our Parish Children’s Faith Formation
- Attend parent and children’s sessions, workshops, and retreats
- Complete all in-home sacramental materials
- Celebrate the Sacrament of First Reconciliation prior to the celebration of First Communion
- Together with the Pastor and Director, assess the child’s readiness for the celebration of First Communion.
Celebration of First Communion
Two weekends have been set aside for the celebration of First Communion. Parents will be given the opportunity to request, in order of preference.
Confirmation
Youth preparing for Confirmation are challenged to deepen their commitment to their own formation.
Also, members of the community mentor them through the formal preparation process. They participate in several sessions and community-wide activities with their parents, families, and sponsors.
As you prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, youth and parents should:
- Participate weekly in Mass
- Ongoing, consistent participation in Faith Formation for at least two consecutive years before being considered candidates for Confirmation in ninth grade
- Sincere and humble desire to receive the spiritual strength offered in Confirmation
- Formally petition for the Sacrament of Confirmation to the Bishop by letter
- Full participation in the Confirmation Preparation process
- Commitment to continuous faith formation
- Ongoing involvement in service and Youth Ministry
If one or more of these expectations is not met, we ask that you wait until you are able to prepare yourself properly for Confirmation.

Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process that prepares people to become members of the Catholic church. This year-round process is designed for unbaptized persons and persons of other faiths seeking to become Catholic. Baptized but uncatechized Catholics may also participate and complete their initiation through the reception of Confirmation and First Eucharist.

Holy Orders
In the Sacrament of Holy Orders, or Ordination, the priest being ordained vows to lead other Catholics by bringing them the sacraments (especially the Eucharist), by proclaiming the Gospel, and by providing other means to holiness.
Ministry of Care
If you desire home or sick visits and Holy Communion, either once or on a regular visitation schedule or seek the Sacrament of Healing–the Anointing of the Sick, please let us know!
For the Sick, call Fr. Jose at (630) 289-5400, ext. 203.
For home visits, call Deacon Kevin Koster at (708) 533-6862.
Anointing of the Sick
Jesus showed great concern for the bodily and spiritual welfare of the sick and commanded his followers to do likewise. Since then the church has continued to celebrate the sacrament of the sick for its members who are ill, so that Christ, himself, might strengthen the faithful who are afflicted by illness, giving them a strong means of support.
The reception of this sacrament is for baptized Catholics who are seriously ill; those about to undergo surgery; elderly people notably weakened by age; those suffering chronic disease; and those dealing with mental or spiritual illness. Children may receive if they have sufficient use of reason to be strengthened by the sacrament.
